Ankle Biters Ankle biters, aren’t they the ones who just love to bite your ankles. Just in case if some of you guys don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m talking about little dogs who like to bite ankles. So who likes ankle biters? Well I don’t because sometimes they can be so annoying. But on the other hand they can be a lot of fun, because they are small and small dogs are so fun to play with.
Here are a few examples of the types of dogs which are known as ankle biters,
Jack Russell’s, Fox terriers, Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, just to name a few.
I’ve been searching the web but I didn’t find much information on ankle bitters. So I’ve come up with two questions to ask you guys about. Count to 3 Q: Why are they called Ankle Biters? Count to 3 A: Because they are short and that is the only way they can defend themselves, and because they are only up to your ankles it the closet place for them to reach. Any dog placed with a small dog will be bitten. That is the dog’s defense. Much as we slap or strike out of anger, they bite. They also do this to get your attention because after all they do love you.
All small dogs have been given the nickname Ankle Biters because that is where they aim. One of the small dogs I would like to talk about is Jack Russell Terriers.
While foxies are quite small dogs, averaging around 38cm in height, (show your class the 30cm ruler and add 8cms more just to show the class the height) foxies can be ankle biters, they also make very good watch dogs. Jack Russell’s are one of the most intelligent dogs today. The dog was designed with one purpose in mind: fox hunting. Size, color, temper, flexibility, digging ability which made them very good at hunting for foxes.
I found this story on the web and I would like to share it with you. It’s the Story of a dog’s life I found on the internet called “Snickers Doodles” The Adventures of Snickers and Uncle Alan begin.
Hello my name is Snickers. I belong to a girl named Kylee. She has always wanted a dog as long as she can remember. She just had to wait until I was born so I could be her dog. She has 2 sisters, (Brianna and Alexis), who all live with their Mom. Their Uncle Alan is the one who calls me "the Ankle biter". That is because I like to chase little kids and nip at their heels. I think its fun, but it seems to get me in trouble though. Uncle Alan was told my Dad was a Jack Russell Terrier, but I've long since out grown any Jack Russell. Uncle Alan suspects Dad was a Fox terrier and it was mistaken breed identity of the promiscuous neighbour. It makes sense I'm the size of a Fox Terrier with the longer legs and longer snout.Mom was a cute little Papillion. It is her I get long curly hair from. The dog breed is named that because their ears look like a butterfly. I don't know they are just ears to me. I don’t bite ankles much anymore, so Alan doesn't call me the ankle biter anymore. So he changed the header on this web site using his Cousin Joe’s suggestion. This site will now be called “Snickers’ Doodle”. A place where I can share my adventures as I journey through my life with Uncle Alan. I hope you enjoy getting to know me. Thank you! Snickers. So now you kind of get an idea of want I mean about ankle biters. They just love it so much it’s also their purpose and defence.
Q: Why do people have Jack Russell Terriers? Count to 3 A: Because they’re great guard dogs and they are a good family dog too as they say in the dog world a good all rounder dog.
Jack Russell’s are good guard dogs because if any one tries to break in the dog will aim straight for the ankle and will bite as hard as it can. Eventually the robber will run away and will never return back. They are really cool dogs to have because they are fun. They love to chase after ankles and bite them. They mainly go after the little ones because they are an easier target.
With my speech I have learnt that Jack Russell’s are one of the intelligent dogs today. Jack Russell’s purpose is fox hunting. They are very good guard dogs and they are also good family too. As they say in dog ‘a good all rounder dog’. So I hope you have enjoyed my speech and also learnt something new too. Thank you for listening to my speech. Hello my name is Max Kim.
